Pentland Hills Nature Restoration Vision, Scotland
This illustration was created to communicate a long term ecological vision for the restoration of the Pentland Hills landscape in Scotland.
The project translates a complex landscape strategy into a single image that tells the story of the land across time. The illustration combines past land use, present ecological conditions and future restoration proposals within one landscape scene.
The brief involved extensive research into the ecology and management of the area, including peatland restoration, riparian woodland creation, conservation grazing, habitat management and biodiversity strategies. Maps, reports and technical documents informed the narrative structure of the drawing.
The final illustration works as a visual communication tool for a wide audience. It helps explain the restoration strategy in a clear and engaging way, supporting conversations with local communities, schools and children, as well as presentations to stakeholders and potential investors.
By bringing together ecological processes, landscape management and everyday life in one image, the illustration makes a complex environmental vision easier to understand, discuss and support.
